I do hope we get a sequel made, although I’m not 100% sure how they could do it with the way they had the movie go.

There’s still a lot there, but part of me worries how much they altered the ending (like, I mean I liked it and it was a lot accurate, but kind of different. Like same point A and point B for the most part, but the journey there is different).

we only need 4 more thousand dollars for bd and then the whole fandom was making stuff freaking out and promoting, for two hours the bc fandom was a beautiful choas and i don't think we'll ever recover.

Ah, well I guess that’s good.

I mean I do really want to see a sequel, but I do wonder if maybe they tied off too many ends (but I did hear someone call it an ‘open’ ending, a person who is most likely unaware of the books).

It’s mainly because they skipped the six months after Macon’s death and that time was like, when pretty much ALL of BD happens.

But with that said, I do see how they’ve could potentially bring up a sequel. Maybe more focused on the ‘17’ moons thing and Lena’s kind of non-claiming and maybe how Ridley comes back and starts to influence Lena or something.

But because Ethan wasn’t actually there, the sub-plot about not remembering himself dying is kind of ruined, but there is potential there.

Idk, like I hope they do it, because it is a really good series and such a beautiful story and I’d hate people to think ‘Creatures’ is the end of it.

10 Reasons Why Beautiful Creatures is an Awesome Film

I’ve seen a lot of negativity about this film as an adaption, but I wanted to shed some light on how it really is an awesome movie. I mean if you haven’t seen it already, you’re truly missing out.

1. The Acting: There is something truly phenomenal about the way the acting is done. It’s not just characters we see on screen, it’s people. We don’t see overly dramatic or forced. The movements we see look really natural and very human.

2. Alden Ehrenreich as Ethan Wate: I’ve already mentioned the acting as a whole, but dammit Alden’s performance was damn near amazing. I mean the dude really only got the part A WEEK before filming. So he had a lot of catching up to do and did so flawlessly. It’s amazing how much talent this guy has.

3. The Script: Now, I know it’s a fair bit different from the book, but the essential story of the book is the important part. I mean that’s no small book and it’s not like you can smoosh a 500+ page book into a two hour film and keep everything. But what really matters stays. Also, can I just point out the sass in this script? It’s funny as hell. One other point on this is something my friend commented, which she says “it’s cheesy, but it also makes fun of that cheesiness” (or something along those lines). This is an excellent point because there’s moments of sappiness, but there’s also this jab at it too, like the scene where he picks her up in the rain.

4. The Feminism/Gender Role Reversal: Maybe you didn’t notice this as much as me, but the ladies really owned this film. There’s a lot of sexism in the supernatural genre with the ‘boy saves girl’ trope being used time and time again. But here, in this movie, it’s a lot more ‘girl saves boy’.

5. The Romance: There were A LOT of ways it could have gone wrong, but it didn’t. The script dealt with this really well. There were fights and imperfect moments, but at the end of the day Ethan and Lena were two people who really loved each other. You could see it in every scene they had together, the chemistry that was almost like a magic of its own.

6. Villains: I really adored how they worked the evil into this story. It’s not overly done and I really can’t wait until (hopefully) later movies when we get to delve into these characters more (especially Sarafine). I also loved the part where Lena talks about Ridley. It gives another side to the siren who we see as inherently evil until this point.

7. The Portrayal of Religion: Another thing I really want to applaud the script makers for. There was that ugly, conservative to the extreme side in which, but also with Amma and her statement about “it’s only man who’s gonna decide what’s wrong” when Ethan asks her how she can be both a keeper and a religious lady. Which is nice because it’s not automatically demonising religious beliefs. Just the way Mrs Lincoln is.

8. The Cinematography: It really is a stunning film in terms of the visuals. Like the way the effects come together as well as the costumes and setting enhances the story. There’s just no denying the small-town atmosphere as well as that gothic aura that looms over some of the darker scenes. My favourite scene though would have to be the cinema vision, because of how magical the transition between reality and vision was done.

9. Lena and Macon: I loved how they didn’t cut out much of the strength of the familiar love between them. You could really see how much Macon cared for Lena and vice-versa. This was especially emphasised near the end of the movie, which nearly broke my heart.

10. The Opening Monologue: Okay, this was such a great set-up for the film. I loved how this particular part translated from the book to the film. I was worried they’d cut it, but the way it’s been blended into the movie is awesome. In both the way it was shot and what was said. It’s such a great scene that adds the right kind of atmosphere the story needed to begin. It flowed really well and even seeing it for a second time, I felt like it was one of the best adapted parts in the entire movie.
